I am thrilled to introduce a new and captivating team that will definitely make waves in the world of folklore and mythology: Ancient Britain Myths. This dedicated group is delving deep into the rich and often mysterious tales of Britain, uncovering the stories, legends, and supernatural encounters that have shaped the landscape of British folklore.
Recently, I had the pleasure of connecting with James, a key member of the Ancient Britain Myths team, after being thoroughly impressed by their insightful and engaging content. James kindly agreed to take part in a Q&A session to give us a closer look at their mission, their passion for British myths, and what they hope to achieve with their new platform. Let’s dive into the conversation!
Q&A with James from Ancient Britain Myths
Q: Tell us a bit about Ancient Britain Myths. What inspired you to start this project?
James: Ancient Britain Myths was born out of a lifelong fascination with the rich folklore, myths, and legends of the British Isles. Growing up between Wales, with its deep connection to ancient legends, and England, known for its storied past and folklore traditions, I developed a passion for the tales that have been passed down through generations. With the rise of digital platforms, it felt like the perfect time to bring these ancient tales into the present using modern storytelling tools, where we create immersive content that brings these stories to life.
Q: What kind of content can readers expect to find on your site?
James: We cover a broad range of content that dives deep into British folklore, myths, legends, and hauntings. From the well-known tales of King Arthur and Robin Hood to lesser-known local folklore, our goal is to offer a comprehensive exploration of Britain’s mystical past. We produce a mix of long-form videos and shorter, more digestible content that delves into specific legends or cursed objects, offering something for everyone. We also touch on different themes, including hauntings and ghost stories, which are often based on authentic, historical sources. Readers can expect beautifully narrated videos, stunning visuals created through AI, and detailed research into the legends that make Britain such a fascinating land of mystery.
Q: Do you have a favourite myth or legend that you’ve covered so far?
James: It’s hard to choose just one, as every story we cover has its own unique charm! However, one of my favourites has to be the lesser-known tale of the Lady of the Lake from the Brecon Beacons, which is connected to the origins of the Physicians of Myddfai. While many are familiar with the Arthurian Lady of the Lake, this Welsh legend offers a completely different, yet equally captivating story tied to local folklore. That’s what I love about this project – while iconic figures are exciting to explore, it’s the lesser-known legends that often hold the most intrigue. We strive to uncover these hidden gems, introducing them to audiences who may not have heard of them before.
Q: How does Ancient Britain Myths approach researching these myths?
James: Researching these myths is a blend of passion, dedication, and attention to historical detail. We pull from a variety of sources – everything from academic texts and folklore collections to old legends passed down through oral traditions. We also make use of technology, such as AI tools, to help us create vivid visual representations of these myths, ensuring that our content is not only engaging but also rooted in authenticity. We aim to strike a balance between presenting these stories as they’ve been told for generations, while also reinterpreting them for modern audiences. Our research process involves gathering as much information as possible, cross-referencing different sources, and always approaching these myths with respect for their cultural origins.
Q: What can we look forward to from Ancient Britain Myths in the near future?
James: We’re incredibly excited about what’s coming next for Ancient Britain Myths. In the near future, we plan to expand our content offering, diving deeper into Britain’s haunted history and exploring more lesser-known myths. We’re also looking to expand our YouTube channel with more long-form videos and immersive ambient content designed to engage viewers for extended periods. One of our future plans includes incorporating ghost hunting and paranormal investigations across the UK. With Britain being one of the most haunted countries in the world (arguably the most haunted!), there’s a lot of ground to cover, and we’re excited to bring our audience along for the ride.
Q: How can people get involved with Ancient Britain Myths?
James: We’re always open to new collaborations and love connecting with others who share our passion for British myths and folklore. Whether it’s through storytelling, art, or historical research, we’re eager to involve like-minded people in the project. We’re a small but dedicated team, and we’re always looking to grow our community – whether through our YouTube channel, social media, or website. We also encourage those who are interested in contributing to reach out. Whether you’re a fellow storyteller, an artist, or just someone who loves British folklore, we’d love to hear from you. There’s no better way to keep these stories alive than by sharing them with others, and we’re always looking for new voices and perspectives to help us do that.
