Every now and then, someone in the paranormal field stands out not just because of what they do, but because of how they do it. While scrolling through social media looking for new investigators to feature on Mystic Realm Blog, I came across Camrose Paranormal Research and immediately felt drawn in. The videos, the sessions, the compassion behind the work… it all stood out. So I reached out to the woman behind it all: Sherri “RiRi” Fortier.
Sherri’s approach to the paranormal is deeply human. With over three decades of experience as an empathic medium and solo investigator, she blends intuition, sensitivity, and research into a style of investigation that aims not just to gather evidence — but to give the departed a voice. Her Spirit Sessions, both public and private, have earned her a dedicated following across TikTok, YouTube, and other platforms, where she shares real-time communication, validations, and powerful moments with the other side.
From cryptid research to heartbreaking cold cases, Sherri’s journey into the paranormal world is rooted in empathy, purpose, and a genuine desire to help both the living and the dead find understanding and peace.
Below is our full Q&A; presented just as she shared it, giving readers an intimate look into her experiences, motivations, and the unique path that led her to become one of the most compelling investigators in the Canadian paranormal community.
1. Could you introduce yourself (your name, where you’re based, how you first became interested in paranormal research)?
Sherri:
My name is Sherri Fortier, but my friends call me RiRi & I’m the founder and solo investigator for Camrose Paranormal Research, in Camrose Alberta Canada.
I have been involved in the paranormal field for over 3 decades now, but I’ve been sensitive since I was a child.

2. What inspired you to start your work as a paranormal researcher (what “why” drives you)?
Sherri:
Because I’m an empathic medium, I am able to feel, hear & see spirits. Knowing how lonely they are, and the pain that comes along with losing loved ones, it’s my aim to help give the deceased a voice, with hopes of healing the trauma associated with their passing, for both the living & their departed.
3. Who or what were your earliest mentors or influences in this field (if any)?
Sherri:
Watching shows like Most Haunted, Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventures, A Haunting, etc were just as much of an influence to me as the classic horror movies, such as Poltergeist and The Exorcist. Sparking my curiosity further but also allowing me to focus on the “why” behind the hauntings, just as much as the “who”.
4. What are your favourite topics or areas within the paranormal niche (ghosts, hauntings, cryptids, research methodology, equipment, folklore, etc.) and why do they appeal to you?
Sherri:
Aside from ghosts & hauntings, I have a love of most other cryptids. Bigfoot is a favorite of mine, and we have a healthy population in our Alberta Rocky Mountains. Aliens, Wendigos, Skinwalkers, Faeries etc. it’s all fascinating and deserves to be explored further. It’s important to be cautious about investigating these creatures, and I highly recommend using various methods to investigate, but please don’t go alone. There is safety in numbers.
5. How do you choose the sites or topics you research (location, history, local legends, personal intuition)?
Sherri:
For myself, I often get gut instincts on locations & will investigate based upon that intuition. However, there are many places that the legends of activity is what draws me in. Not every location is ripe with activity & spirits, but if you’re sensitive, they will come to you. Trust me. We are lighthouses on the other side, and they’re drawn to us, which can make any location illicit responses, but doesn’t mean it’s haunted. I rely on the messages I receive, but I always back it up with evidence where I’m able, and then my equipment validates. Researching the location, and doing interviews is very much a big part in the paranormal process.
6. Can you share one of your most memorable research experiences (where it was, what you found, how it affected you)?
Sherri:
I have a little girl spirit, Anna, who was kidnapped from a hockey game, back in the mid 80s. Unfortunately, her short life was brutally taken, along with a dozen other children of varying ages. She has helped piece together the events, names, ages, locations and has also given the names of the guilty parties. I have been able to corroborate a lot of information, just doing google searches. She has also been helping with the missing siblings from Nova Scotia. The information I have received from that case is truly insane.
7. What challenges have you faced in your paranormal research journey (logistical, emotional, scepticism, safety issues) and how do you navigate them?
Sherri:
Of course, there are always skeptics and naysayers, but fortunately once they are witness to my Spirit Sessions, they all change their beliefs. I hold both private & public (live) sessions, where I use my abilities, as well as my paranormal equipment, and connect to the afterlife.
8. What tips or advice would you give to someone who’s just starting out and is curious about doing paranormal research?
Sherri:
It’s not about the equipment as much as it is about the interaction. You don’t need much aside from a device to record. Most spirits won’t be familiar with the technology, and may not have the energy to utilize it. 100 years ago the methods were very basic. Keep it simple, and respectful. These were living souls with lives, emotions, and loved ones. Treat them as you would your departed family. Also, keep an open mind, but don’t always assume it’s paranormal, investigate & debunk where you can.
9. How can people get in touch with you or follow your work (social media links, upcoming projects, events, collaborations)?
Sherri:
Camrose Paranormal Research can be found on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok & YouTube, and my Bits & Boos podcast can be found on YouTube & Spotify. I do my public Spirit Sessions on TikTok Live, but if you’re interested in a private session, you can reach me at CamroseParanormalResearch@outlook.com
10. Finally: Is there anything else you’d like the readers of Mystic Realm Blog to know about you, your work, or your journey in the paranormal world?
Sherri:
I’m not here to challenge your beliefs in the paranormal, they exist whether you believe, or not. My goal is to help the spirits, and help them where they need. If you’re able to have a change in perception afterwards, that’s amazing, but it’s not something I worry about.
I have had 5 decades of experiencing the paranormal, and have only been documenting publicly for 5 years. We are all psychic, some just have been taught to ignore it. Gut instincts, seeing things in your periphery, and dreaming of strangers are all sensitive abilities. The more you tune in, or investigate, the more open you will become. Just be sure to close as well as protect, if you decide to try.
When things go bump in the night, grab your camera & investigate. You never know what you may encounter.
Many thanks to Joshua at Mystic Realm. Stay safe, much love ✌🏻❤️🕯️ from Camrose Paranormal Research 👻🇨🇦
