One of the things I love most about running Mystic Realm Blog is discovering new paranormal groups doing amazing work. Recently, I came across The Shadow Project Paranormal UK on social media and knew I had to reach out. Their raw, authentic approach to ghost hunting and paranormal research immediately stood out.
I asked the team if they’d be up for a Q&A feature, and they kindly agreed. Below you’ll find the questions I sent along with their fascinating answers about their journey, techniques, and experiences in the field.
Meet The Shadow Project Paranormal UK
Q: Can you introduce yourselves and tell us how this paranormal group got started and what inspired its creation?
A: We are The Shadow Project Paranormal UK our team consists of Steve, Jon, and Lewis. About two years ago, we joined another group on a trip and decided to create our own. Jon and Lewis are cousins, and Steve has known and worked with Jon for over 15 years.
Mission & Approach
Q: What’s the primary mission or focus of your group?
A: Our main goal is to try and capture true evidence. We enjoy our investigations, but our videos are 100% real, no tricks, no setups.
Q: How would you describe your group’s philosophy toward investigating the paranormal?
A: We research each area as much as possible. Learning the history is just as important as the investigation itself.
Locations & Ethics
Q: What types of locations do you typically explore, and how do you decide which ones to investigate?
A: Locations can be tricky. We do both known spots and paid events, but we primarily focus on abandoned locations. Our rule is simple: if we cannot enter freely, we don’t enter. We never break in, and we always leave sites as we found them, only footprints left behind.
Memorable Investigations
Q: Can you share a particularly memorable or surprising investigation you’ve conducted?
A: One of our most memorable experiences was in an abandoned village. Inside one of the houses, we heard footsteps and talking, and even had clothing tugged. We always search every room beforehand to ensure the site is completely empty, so experiences like this really stand out.
Q: What tools or techniques do you find most effective?
A: REM Pods and the Estes Method have given us some amazing results. At one empty property, we had REM Pods go off in sequence across multiple rooms, making it seem like something was moving through the walls.
Belief vs. Skepticism
Q: How do you balance skepticism and open-mindedness when investigating?
A: In our group, we have two full believers and one skeptic. We discuss different possibilities during investigations, and because of our strong friendship, we’re able to talk calmly and respectfully about what the evidence might mean.
Q: Have you ever had an experience that shifted your perspective?
A: Yes. As the skeptic, I’ve had moments that really shook me. Hearing unexplained voices, watching objects move, and even seeing EMF meters and cat balls respond in direct sequence to questions—it’s left me struggling to find logical explanations.
Working with Historians
Q: Do you collaborate with other experts?
A: Yes we’ve worked with a local historical group, which has been very insightful. For example, during one investigation at an old school building, an app kept referencing battles and lost bodies. At first, we dismissed it until we later discovered the area was the site of a major battlefield where even royalty had been killed and their bodies never recovered.
