The realm of the paranormal has long captivated the human imagination, invoking a mix of fear, curiosity, and wonder. From ghostly apparitions to inexplicable sounds, the mysteries that lie beyond our tangible reality have led many to seek answers. Among these inquisitive minds is Tony, a seasoned investigator and the founder of Paranormal Investigations UK. Tony’s journey into the world of paranormal phenomena is both unique and inspiring, marked by a deep passion for uncovering the unknown and a commitment to scientific rigour.
Tony’s foray into the paranormal began in 1987 with a keen interest in Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP). His fascination with capturing and analysing disembodied voices led him to establish EVP UK, a platform dedicated to this intriguing aspect of paranormal research. However, Tony soon realised that the world of the unexplained was vast and multifaceted, prompting him to expand his horizons. This realisation led to the creation of Paranormal Investigations UK around the year 2000, allowing Tony to explore a broader spectrum of paranormal activities and phenomena.
Over the years, Tony and his team have delved into numerous investigations, each case presenting its own set of challenges and mysteries. Their methodical approach and adherence to strict protocols have earned them a reputation for credibility and thoroughness in a field often fraught with scepticism. As a member of the Society for Psychical Research (SPR), Tony follows established guidelines to ensure that his investigations are conducted with integrity and respect for all parties involved.
In this exclusive Q&A, Tony shares his experiences, the challenges he faces, and the fascinating phenomena his team has encountered. His insights provide a deeper understanding of what it means to be a paranormal investigator in the modern world, where technology and traditional methods blend to seek answers to age-old questions. Here is a Fascinating Q&A with Tony from Paranormal Investigations UK, Lets Go…
Q. Can you share some of the most intriguing paranormal phenomena your team has encountered?
Tony: One of the most intriguing cases we are currently investigating is a Poltergeist case. The details are discussed in a webinar hosted by ASSAP, which can be found in this video here.
Q. What protocols do you follow to ensure the credibility and accuracy of your investigations?
Tony: As a member of the Society for Psychical Research (SPR), we follow their guidelines, known as the blue book – Guidance Notes for Investigators of Spontaneous Cases. For clients, we use a simple online form where they sign up to our ethics and code of conduct, which can be found here.
Q How do you handle scepticism and criticism from the public or the scientific community regarding your work?
Tony: It goes with the job. Sceptical opinions are fine, but those that disbelieve without considering any opinion other than their own, I have little time for. Avoiding paranormal politics is crucial for survival. Never engage with a paranormal sceptic keyboard warrior; it’s pointless.
Q What role does technology play in your investigations, and what are some of the key tools you rely on?
Tony: Technology is crucial as it helps gather evidence. We rely on audio and visual recorders, high-end energy measuring equipment, and thermal imaging. We don’t use apps, spirit boxes, or alarms.
Q. Could you describe a particularly puzzling case and the outcome of your investigation?
Tony: One puzzling case involves contagion events, which we know occurred but have no explanation for why or how. I will attach the report concerning this case.

Q. How do you differentiate between natural occurrences and potential paranormal activity during an investigation?
Tony: We investigate the activity and list possible causes. Some may have rational explanations, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are correct. It comes down to hard work and seeking opinions from a strong team. Sometimes, we can’t offer any answer, rational or paranormal.
Q. What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing a career or hobby in paranormal investigations?
Tony: Avoid paranormal politics; it gets very toxic. Join or form a small paranormal group where everyone shares the same mission statement. For solo investigators, join the SPR if you can afford the membership and ASSAP. Both organisations offer different perspectives; SPR is more academic, while ASSAP is more practical.
Q. Are there any historical or famous haunted locations that you plan to investigate in the near future?
Tony: None that come to mind. We only investigate private houses or business premises and by request. We don’t ask to go to a location.
Q. How can people learn more about your work or get involved with Paranormal Investigation UK?
